Vendor Spotlight: Jen Pack with Mary Kay Cosmetics
Each week, we spotlight one of our favorite vendors. While you can always see our complete list of names, categories, and contact information here, these emails will give you a deeper understanding of who these people and businesses really are. This week, get to know more about the Jen Pack with Mary Kay cosmetics. What sets you apart from other makeup consultants? Mary Kay will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2013! Mary Kay was honored this year as a top 5 “Brand that Delights” – with Apple, Google, and Amazon! We have our own research and manufacturing facilities in Dallas, TX. Personally, I am celebrating 14 years with Mary Kay – my longevity, experience, and professional commitment separate me from “the pack”! I’ve spent the last 5 years in the top 2% of Mary Kay’s sales force. What qualities should we look for in a makeup consultant? Availability and service! A consultant should teach you how to apply your own makeup, so you can recreate the looks you love every day, and she should advise you in application techniques customized to your face shape, hair and eye color, and cosmetic personality! Is there a particular area of expertise that you consider your specialty? Eyes. I love helping women learn new “eye looks”. Once we’ve got a makeup routine down, what might prompt us to call you for a change? Women often call/text/email when they change their hair color, as their foundation color changes in the winter/summer, before a special occasion. Other than choosing the wrong company to handle their needs, what is the most common mistake you see people make? Purchasing color cosmetics without trying them first – guessing about foundation shades or lipstick colors and then being disappointed when they get them home. I offer my clients the opportunity to sample every product before making purchasing decisions. What’s your process? What happens when a potential client calls you for the first time? I ask her what she’d most like to change/improve about her skin. I offer a complimentary appointment where she can sample appropriate products to address her concerns, and I can create a customized makeup look for her. I meet clients in their homes or offices. Any insider makeup tips you can share? Always exfoliate your skin before applying makeup, and use primer – foundation primer, eye primer, lip primer… I like to think of it as “spackle” ☺ Where can we see examples of your work?
